Best. Taxes. Ever.

Form 1099-MISC

That's my new favorite tax form.  Prior to today, my favorite tax form was nothing, because only accounting nerds have favorite tax forms.

Accounting nerds, and now me.

With tax season right around the door, we thought we'd received all of the various forms we needed.  That was before a little magical internet birdie dropped off one last form in my inbox.

Form 1099-MISC

This form is used to track items such as Rents, Nonemployee Compensation, Crop Insurance Proceeds, Fishing Boat Proceeds, Substitute Payments In Lieu of Dividends or Interest.

Oh, and Royalties.  Sweet, sweet Royalties.

Not only that, but I received two of them, one for my US earnings and one for the time someone in the UK bought one.  That's right, I'm an international author.

Sure, my book earnings for the year of 2015 were roughly the equivalent of what we spent on our Netflix subscription for the year.  That's not the point*.  The point is, I have to pay taxes on something I created, and that is fantastic.

Yay taxes!

*But you still should totally buy Fractured: Arrivals.  If nothing else, do it so I can report it on next years taxes!
