Fractured

A re-written universe

The flash of light came and went in an instant over the morning sky of Billings, Montana.  When it passed, a five-block section of the city found itself in the middle of a forest.

Two hundred strangers, unified only by the fact that they happened to be on this stretch of land during their morning commute, now must come together for mutual survival until they can determine where they are, and how to get back home.

As their resources run low, they venture into the woods to find food and water.  What they find instead, makes it clear that where they are, is much less important than when.

I came up with the concept of Fractured in the early 2000's.  I used to daydream a lot about situations like war, natural disasters, the collapse of society, etc, and about how random people would come together and either face these situations, or fall apart.

As I recall, the idea solidified one afternoon as my family and I were in a sub shop, eating our meal.  I looked up at the various people eating and employees in the store, and I thought to myself 'how would these people work together if they traveled back in time?'  Yes, this is the sort of thing I think of while eating, and pretty much any other time the thought hits me.

These musings and daydreams eventually evolved into the Fractured concept.

In all, there will be six Fractured books total.  I'm currently laying the groundwork for the second one, and I hope to begin work on it by the beginning of the year.
